Biographical Sketch

I am originally from Colorado Springs, CO, but have also lived in Arizona for a few years. I recently moved back to Colorado to attend CSU, and have fallen in love with this town and everything it has to offer. I earned my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from CSU, and am ecstatic to be teaching at such an amazing school.

What I like about Traut is

While I may be new to Traut, I have really enjoyed getting to know the community that this school has created, and I look forward to continuing to get to know it. I also have a special connection to the Core Knowledge education world, as I attended a Core Knowledge school in Colorado Springs all throughout elementary school. It is a very well-rounded educational philosophy, and I look forward to being back in the Core Knowledge world.

Hobbies & Interests

My hobbies include mountain biking, climbing, camping, and almost every other Colorado outdoor sport. Whether it is snowing and I am skiing, or it is sunny and I’m paddle boarding, I often spend my free time outside. I also enjoy crafting, and have a knack for thinking I can DIY anything.

My favorite books and authors are

I am currently working on rekindling my personal love for reading. But, some of my favorite authors include Kate DiCamillo, and Rhold Dahl. Their stories are so wonderfully written, and should be shared with every child.

Favorite Quote

“There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what children can do instead of what they cannot do.” Temple Grandin

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela

About My Classroom

In my classroom, I strive to create a safe and welcoming classroom environment where each student is embraced for their strengths and unique abilities. My hope is that the classroom is a community, where we are all part in making it a great place. In addition to being a space where all of the students who walk through our door are presented with an equitable learning opportunity.

Courses Taught

I have taught in multiple early childhood settings as an infant through preschool teacher. I also have experience in teaching first and second grade. 4th grade will be new to me this year, but I can’t wait to take on a new perspective.
