I find Core Knowledge to be an excellent academic philosophy and I am excited to start teaching it this year!
When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, hiking, paddle boarding, gardening, singing, and organizing. I am an avid organizer, and feel at peace when everything has its place.
My favorite books: Wonder by R.J. Palacio, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate & Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. I also enjoy learning about new novels and books from my children and students.

Hi, I am Sara Long, and welcome to room 222! I strive to create a classroom where a child's academic success coincides with their social and emotional growth. If you peek into my room, you will find students actively engaged in their learning both independently and with their peers. We learn that pencils have erasers because everyone makes mistakes, and mistakes are just another avenue toward arriving at an understanding of a problem. In addition, high expectations are set, and students rise to the challenge because our classroom community supports each other as learners and individuals. Finally, smiles, laughter and excitement are embedded in all our learning opportunities, because we learn best we we are having fun!
I have taught 1st Grade (all subjects), Title 1 Reading, and 5th Grade (all subjects).
