About The English Language Development Program:
Students in our ELD program have exposure to a language other than English, at home. The focus of instruction falls into 4 domains: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. As a way to meet these needs, students play games, explore vocabulary and idiomatic phrases, and read stories with a focus on proper language. This includes speaking in complete sentences, asking and answering questions, using proper sentence structure, and asking for help when they need it. Students learn to advocate for their own education, and to not be afraid to ask questions if they don't understand something. Growing bilingual, bi-literate, and multi-cultural students is always our goal.
