What I like about Traut is...: TCKS has been my school home since 1994. Traut is everything that I believe a school should be and I treasure being a part of this community. The first aspect of the program that attracted me was the curriculum, but I quickly embraced the other four pillars of mature literacy, parent partnership, student responsibility, and character education. Ranking the pillars is not possible for me. Instead I see all five working together to create an educational foundation that allows students to gain knowledge and skills in a healthy, positive environment.
Biking, running, hiking, paddle boarding, cross country skiing, baseball, and reading.
Generally speaking, my favorite book is the one currently in my hands. Some of my favorite children’s authors include Patricia Polacco, Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, Bill Peet, Beverly Cleary, Seymour Simon, Jean Craighead George, Lynn Reid Banks, and Roald Dahl. This is a difficult list for me to create as I view myself as a book fanatic – there are very few books that I do not consider a friend.

Room 202 strives to be an inviting place where children know they are welcome, valued, seen, and heard. It is my great desire that every student views entering our classroom as a gift to be unwrapped each day. In addition, I want each of my students to know, without a doubt, that I am happy to see them and will do all I can to help them gain skills and knowledge. One of the most gratifying compliments a former student shared with me was that every student in my room believed that they were my “favorite.”
